The Challenge
When the homeowners reached out, they wanted more than just fresh paint—they wanted a polished, cohesive interior that matched their design vision.
Along the way, the flooring contractor had gotten adhesive on multiple doors, leaving visible marks that required sanding and refinishing. Several door jambs had also been cut too high, leaving gaps at the bottom that needed careful patching.
All newly installed baseboards required full prep, including filling nail holes and caulking along the top for a seamless finish. Achieving crisp transitions was a priority, so we used our standard delicate taping process to deliver clean, sharp paint lines.
The homeowners also took advantage of our in-house paint and décor consultant, Julie Child, to help select colors and accent placements that would best complement their home’s architecture and style.
Our Solution
Gilbert’s Painting prepped every surface with care, starting with sanding and restoring doors affected by adhesive. We repaired the door jambs with precise patching to eliminate gaps and ensure a seamless look.
Our painters prepped all newly installed baseboards by filling each nail hole, sanding smooth, and applying caulk along the top edge for a flawless transition to the walls.
We applied Sherwin-Williams Duration in SW 7648 Big Chill (Matte) for the main wall color, accented by SW 9143 Cadet (Dining Room walls) and SW 7674 Peppercorn (TV wall).
Ceilings were finished in Dunn-Edwards DEW 383 Cool December (SuperWall Flat), while trim, doors, baseboards, closets, and bathroom ceilings received Dunn-Edwards Aristoshield Semi-Gloss in Cool December.
For added durability and easy maintenance, we coated all window sills with a semi-gloss urethane finish, preventing the gray “stripe” effect when windows are open and adding an elegant, cleanable surface.
